Ember Jane Ashcroft writes Southern Gothic mysteries rooted in family history, hidden truths, and the quiet places where the past refuses to stay buried. Her stories explore the ties between land, memory, and the generations that come before us.
Growing up in Central Alabama, surrounded by stories of family, ancestry, and small-town life, Ember developed a fascination with the way the past shapes the present. That curiosity eventually led her to begin researching her own family history, where old records, forgotten connections, and unanswered questions inspired the world of Hollow Creek.
Her debut novel, Before the Thunder, is the first book in the Hollow Creek series, a story that blends mystery, family legacy, and subtle supernatural elements set against the backdrop of the American South.
When she isn’t writing, Ember enjoys genealogy research, exploring family history, and spending time with her family. She believes that every family tree has roots that run deeper than we expect, and sometimes the most powerful stories are the ones waiting quietly in the past.
